About Tarana

We started Tarana because we couldn't stop looking at old jewellery. The kind our grandmothers wore. The kind found on flea market stalls with dents and stories nobody remembers anymore. There was a texture to it, a weight, a sense that someone had actually made it by hand instead of stamping it out on a machine somewhere.

That's what we try to bring back.

Every piece we make is handcrafted, in German silver, Afghani silver, or brass, and each has its own character. German silver gives that soft, antique glow. Afghani brings a raw, tribal edge with its distinct oxidized finish. Brass has a warmth to it, especially as it ages and picks up its own patina over time. This is jewellery that looks better with a little wear, not worse.

We work with artisans who've spent years learning this craft, often passed down within families. Nothing here is mass produced. We don't run huge batches or churn things out to hit a number. We make what we can make well, and that's it.

We also try to be thoughtful about how things get made. Where the materials come from, who's making the piece, whether the process is fair to the people doing the work. It matters to us, even if it's not something you can see when you put on a necklace.

Before anything leaves our hands, someone checks it. Not glanced at, actually checked, so what reaches you looks the way it should and lasts the way it should.

If you're the kind of person who wants jewellery with a bit of history in its design, something bold enough to wear on an ordinary Tuesday and not just save for one big event, we think you'll like what we make.
